After releasing its debut full-length “God Dam Dogs,” last spring, Coffinberry is hard at work on its next project. Housed on the Lakewood side of the now-industrialized West 117th Street area, the group feels most comfortable recording in its home studio. “We’ve recorded probably 25 songs, and maybe we’ve gotten half an album,” said drummer-vocalist Anthony Cross. “I don’t know what it’ll be like, but I think it’s important to do something at home and have more fun. “Our last record was a little bit more of a full rock record, and this one, so far it seems to be stranger arrangements. A little weirder.” Due out within a year, the new album is being recorded completely on tape, which provides a more organic sound than the common Pro Tools digital method. “Anytime I listen to anything from Pro Tools, it sounds so slick,” Cross said. “It sounds like bad radio.” . (Plain Dealer, Jan. 25, 2008)
